TMJ-Jaw Issues

Neuromuscular Dentistry(NMD) is the science that adheres to the principles of patho-physiology, anatomy, form and function. NMD objectively evaluates the complex relationship between teeth, temporomandibular joints and the masticatory muscles in order to achieve an occlusion that is based on the optimal relationship between the mandible and the Skull-Neuromuscular Occlusion.

The goal is to relax the muscles controlling jaw position to establish a true physiological rest position.

To put it simply, Neuromuscular Dentistry places the jaw into its optimal position, relieving the symptoms associated with TMJ. While traditional dentistry evaluates primarily the teeth, bones, and gums, neuromuscular dentistry works with the hard tissues and the soft tissues, muscles and nerves.
